Our naturalist staff conducted nest box inspections and found that while most nests were empty, one held seven Black-Capped Chickadee fledglings! Cleaning boxes reduces parasites and supports good avian health. Don't worry, these guys were returned to their nest to continue growing! #HartleyOEC

Hartley staff was thrilled to have the opportunity to release one of Michigan's most unique native species on the property this week, the Michigan Big Brown Bat! These insect-eating bats help control pests and are vital to our ecosystem.
